Overview
The educational material on this
website is intended for just about anyone interested in Chiari and
syringomyelia, including (but not limited to): patients, family
members, friends, teachers, and medical professionals.
The site is designed to be easy
to navigate and all the information is written in an easy to understand style,
using plain English. The materials are designed to present different
layers of depth and complexity.
High Level Information
The High Level features include
the Overview, FAQ, Education Sheets, Awareness Sheets, Glossary, and the
Personal Stories from the newsletter. These items are a good place to
start for newly diagnosed patients, or for friends and family who want to
get a general feel for what their loved one is facing. In addition,
many teachers, principals, and even medical professional have found these
features useful.
Detailed Information
In general, the newsletter
archives provide detailed articles in the form of research updates, case
studies, interviews, and in-depth features. For convenience, the
archives are organized both chronologically and by article type/subject.
The newsletter archives are a great source for researching a specific topic,
building a more detailed understanding of the conditions, or seeing what the
latest research findings are.
Coming Soon
We are currently working on a
middle level of information for people who want more detail, but don't have
time to read the archived articles. Basically, we are creating a series
of presentations, similar to the Overview, but on specific subjects, such as
symptoms, diagnosis, surgery, etc. Each presentation will summarize
the current thinking on a given subject, link back to specific newsletter
articles, and even provide practical tips. We hope to have the first
of these presentations on the web soon, so stay tuned.

better site and a better source of information for people in the future, so
