I very much appreciated your editorial "Bridging the Patient-Doctor Communication Gap." As both a provider and a patient I found it very enlightening. I would like to share this article with my colleagues.

Perhaps another issue concerning communication between providers and patients is that the provider is not going to jump to a "worst case scenario" but will rule out the most common disease processes first thereby requiring multiple office visits. This can be very frustrating for a patient who not only has to pay for an office visit, trial different medications, and also expect the provider to have a crystal ball.

I am also aware that many providers and surgeons, as you noted in your editorial, may consider a successful outcome to be different than the patients, and in this point in time when the risk of litigation is so high, providers do not always share fully due to their conversations being taken out of context and used against them.

Thank you for a very thought provoking article
